Our Dogs

Bluegrass dogs are the proof.

Traditional blue/tan-trimmed Blueticks, no-tan Bluetick Blacks, show prospects and family companions—all bred toward the same standard.

One Standard

Color is part of the picture. It is never the whole picture.

We breed both traditional blue/tan-trimmed Blueticks and Bluetick Blacks. The no-tan dogs are not a different goal; they are part of the same Bluegrass program and held to the same expectations for structure, intelligence and temperament.

Bluetick Blacks

At Bluegrass, “Bluetick Black” means the black-and-blue/ticked expression without tan points. No tan eyebrows, cheeks or legs—just a different expression within the Bluegrass family.

Bluetick Blacks

No tan. Same standard.

These dogs are bred for the same things we value everywhere else in the program: correct structure, a useful mind, a stable temperament and the ability to live closely with people.

They are represented proudly on this site because they are a real part of Bluegrass Blueticks.

Companions at Heart

A good companion still gets to be a hound. These photos are here because life away from the stack table matters too.

Settle & Connect

The ability to relax with people is part of the companion dog we are breeding toward.
